Chronic Pain Management & Opioid Alternatives

In addition to our commitment to providing naturally-derived, non-narcotic pain treatment for people all over the world, we are keenly aware of the impact of the global opioid epidemic on the human population. In the United States, nearly 70% of drug overdose related deaths involve opioids. Globally, there are 27 million reported cases of opioid use disorders. The economic cost of the opioid epidemic in the United States was estimated to be over 500 billion dollars in 2015 alone.

These startling statistics only enhance our desire to reach as far as possible and offer proven, non-addictive treatments to those suffering from chronic pain.  It is our hope that in the process of helping you, Vibrynol will also be able to help combat the opioid epidemic. Our mission is to not only improve lives but also help save lives from the adverse effects of opioid use.

“Chronic pain, one of the most common reasons adults seek medical care, has been linked to restrictions in mobility and daily activities, dependence on opioids, anxiety and depression, and poor perceived health or reduced quality of life. Population-based estimates of chronic pain among U.S. adults range from 11% to 40%, with considerable population subgroup variation.”

“Pain is a component of many chronic conditions, and chronic pain is emerging as a health concern on its own, with negative consequences to individual persons, their families, and society as a whole. The nation’s science-based health objectives, has a developmental objective to ‘decrease the prevalence of adults having high-impact chronic pain.’ This analysis extends previous national studies of chronic pain prevalence by identifying adults with high-impact chronic pain. In 2016, approximately 20% of U.S. adults had chronic pain (approximately 50 million), and 8% of U.S. adults (approximately 20 million) had high-impact chronic pain.”

“…application of opioids to antidepressant therapy has been controversial because of patients' severe dependence and addiction to them. The long-term use of opioids has been shown to increase the risk of depression and to even cause hyperalgesia, which can lead to depression. By statistically analyzing the opioid treatment of pain in three independent

American health systems, Scherrer et al.

found that in the Veterans Health database, patients taking opioids for 31–90 days were found to be at an 18% higher risk for depression than those taking opioids for 1–30 days. Additionally, depression may prolong the duration of opioid use.”
